When Christ Set the Table

This week's sermon explored the institution of Holy Communion and why this ancient practice is experiencing a powerful reawakening in our generation. We walked through Luke 22, examining how Jesus instituted the Lord's Table during the Last Supper—not as a mere symbolic gesture, but as a covenant meal where Christ himself becomes truly present by His Spirit. We discovered that this table represents something enduring and steady in an increasingly weightless world, offering us not just spiritual excitement but lasting substance that nourishes our souls and roots us in Christ. Through examining the author (Jesus), the timing (Passover and the night of betrayal), the manner (taken, blessed, broken, given), and the guests (the unworthy), we see that communion is the gospel made visible—God's grace reaching toward us, blessing us, breaking us in love, and giving us new life.
